1. Introduction: DMProSports is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all staff, volunteers, and participants in our sports programs. We strive to create a safe environment where everyone can participate in activities without risk to their health.
2. Purpose: This policy sets out DMProSports' approach to health and safety, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices. It aims to prevent accidents, injuries, and health risks during our activities.
3. Legal Framework: This policy complies with UK health and safety legislation, including:
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002
Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 2013
The Equality Act 2010
4. Roles and Responsibilities:
Management: Ensures health and safety policies are in place and regularly reviewed.
Coaches and Staff: Follow safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, and report hazards.
Participants and Parents: Adhere to safety guidelines and report concerns.
5. Risk Assessments:
Risk assessments will be conducted before any sports sessions or events
Identified risks will be mitigated through appropriate measures.
Emergency action plans will be established for different scenarios.
6. First Aid and Medical Emergencies:
First aid kits will be available at all training venues.
At least one qualified first aider will be present at each session.
Emergency contact details for all participants will be kept on record.
In case of serious injury, emergency services (999) will be contacted immediately.
7. Fire and Emergency Procedures:
Fire exits and evacuation routes will be clearly marked.
Regular fire drills will be conducted at indoor venues.
Staff and volunteers will be trained in emergency procedures.
8. Equipment and Facility Safety:
All sports equipment will be regularly inspected and maintained.
Training venues will be assessed for safety hazards before use.
Participants must wear appropriate footwear and clothing for activities.
9. Safeguarding and Well-being:
Health and safety measures will align with DMProSports' Safeguarding Policy.
Any injuries or incidents will be documented and reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Staff will monitor participants for signs of physical or mental distress.
10. Reporting and Monitoring:
All accidents, injuries, and near misses must be reported and recorded.
Regular health and safety audits will be conducted.
Concerns should be reported to the Health and Safety Officer, HR (HR@dmprosports.co.uk).
11. Review and Updates:
This policy will be reviewed annually or when significant changes occur.
Updates will be communicated to all staff and volunteers.
